Love Starts With Yah/God

What if the love we have been trying so hard to produce was never ours to manufacture in the first place? In this message drawn from 1 John 4:7-10 and verse 19, we are brought face to face with a truth that reshapes everything: love does not originate with us. It originates with God. The passage uses the word love nine times in just four verses, and that repetition is not accidental. We are meant to walk away with one word lodged deep in our thinking. The central image is that of a phone that cannot generate its own power. No matter how advanced it is, no matter how much it costs, it must be plugged into something greater than itself. That is precisely our relationship to love. We do not produce it. We receive it, carry it, and pour it into the world around us. John makes the order unmistakably clear: God is love, which is a very different statement from saying love is God. God defines what love looks like. Love does not get to redefine who God is. When we grasp that distinction, we stop settling for counterfeits and start drawing from the only source that never runs dry.
