Joy

What if joy isn't something we chase, but something we choose? This powerful exploration of the second fruit of the Spirit challenges everything we've been taught about joy. Drawing from Galatians 5:22-23 and the profound scene in Nehemiah 8 where the Levites declared 'the joy of Yahuwah is your strength,' we discover that joy is not a feeling—it's a state of being, a spiritual decision we make regardless of our circumstances. When the Israelites wept upon hearing the Torah, convicted of their failures, they were commanded not to mourn but to rejoice. Why? Because joy is not denial of pain; it's a disciplined interpretation of reality through the lens of faith. This teaching unpacks the Greek word for joy as a noun, not a verb—something received and held, not something we feel our way into. We learn that two people can face identical trials yet walk away with opposite outcomes based solely on their perspective. The battlefield is the mind, but the target is the heart. When we allow circumstances to dictate our internal state, we drain our spiritual strength. But when we root ourselves in Yahuwah, joy emerges naturally—like fruit from a healthy tree. This isn't about emotional control or toxic positivity; it's about spiritual governance and alignment with our Creator. The question confronting us is urgent: Where are we chasing happiness based on happenings when joy is already available to us?
